Primary Substation

Primary Substation

Situated on the west of the Olympic Park, Primary substation was the first building that was completed in the Olympic Park. It has got its share of visibility by the very catchy black structure. The primary substation is an extremely critical and indispensable asset of the Olympic Park as it is the one which distributes electricity to all the concerned venues of the Olympic Park. It is located on the site of the Old Kings Yard.

The black coloured structure was given its different visibility by the architect who preferred black over red. It reflects the importance which it carries with itself when we talk about the entire set of utilities associated with the park. It is a pivot which shall guide the future development and extensions in the park.

The efficiency factor has been embodied in the structure of the primary substation itself as some of its parts have been built by the reuse of the materials obtained after demolishing the Kings Yard. During the construction work also, it acted as a source of electricity generation and it will be used to supply electricity for the future work in the park. The structure also has a brown roof which has been primarily used to enhance the importance of wildlife and biodiversity. Hence, signifying the ecological importance concerned with our world.
