Lee Valley White Water Centre

The Lee Valley White Water Centre is situated around 30km north of the Olympic Park and is on the edge of the 1000 acre River Lee Country Park that is part of the Lee Valley Regional Park. The center has a 300m Olympic competition course with a 5.5m gradient and a 160m intermediate/training course with a 1.6m gradient.

Both of the competition courses were built from scratch along with the 10000 square meter lake and it feeds a pump system. The construction of the Lee Valley White Water Centre began in July 2009 and was done in December 2010. It opened in the spring of 2011 and it was the only 2012 London Olympic Games venue that was open for the public earlier than the games.

The building will be open for all the major canoeing and kayaking facilities of world class and for all the people of all levels of ability. It will be a major leisure place for the white water rafting. The Lee Valley Regional Park Authority will own and manage the venue after the games.
